Crossings - English Channel
The Channel has always been viewed as a challenge by many, from swimmers through to aviators - paddlers are no different. Though the tides are relatively straightforward, the paddle is complicated by crossing one of the busiest waterways in the world.
Ian Tordoff beat the record that had stood for nearly 30 years when he paddled across in 2005. 2 years later Ian Wynne was to better the time when he sneaked under the 3 hr mark. Whilst the Dover Straits route is seen as the 'conventional' way to cross take a look at Mark Stocker's crossing to Cherbourg, nearly 3 times further.
